Advising Philosophy

My advising philosophy is centered on supporting students with empathy and encouragement. I see advising as more than just helping students choose classes; it’s about empowering them to feel confident in their decisions, believe in themselves, and develop a sense of belonging in their academic journey.

Each student has unique goals and challenges, and my role is to provide the guidance and tools they need to succeed. I strive to create a welcoming environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, sharing concerns, and exploring opportunities that match their interests. I want them to know they’re not alone and that they have someone they can trust. I take a student-centered approach, emphasizing the strengths and experiences each student brings. Whether they’re first-generation students, transfers, or still figuring out their path, I customize my support to meet their needs.

Being bilingual in English and Spanish helps me connect with a broader range of students in a genuine and inclusive way. What I enjoy most about advising is watching students grow into confident, independent learners. My goal is to encourage them, celebrate their progress, and support their efforts as they work toward reaching their full potential.

About Me

I'm originally from El Paso, Texas, and graduated in May 2024 from The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), with a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media Production with a minor in Film. I'm passionate about creativity whether it's through tackling new projects or writing. In my free time, I enjoy discovering new places, connecting with others, and spending time with family and friends. I also value personal growth and finding meaningful ways to make a positive impact in everything I do.
