Advising Philosophy

I am a proud third-generation Lobo and am passionate about helping students navigate and achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals. My advising approach is rooted in developmental advising, focusing on each student's holistic growth. I also take a proactive stance, identifying students who may benefit from additional support and building strong 1-on-1 relationships to help keep them accountable throughout the semester.

About Me

In 2017, my life took a significant turn when I broke my back in a snowboarding accident in France, resulting in a wheelchair. This experience has profoundly shaped my outlook, prioritizing self-reflection, long-term planning, and resilience. Before my injury, I played rugby for 10 years, including representing UNM. Post-injury, I took up sled hockey, eventually winning a national championship. Now, I have the privilege of coaching the UNM rugby team, an experience that keeps me closely connected to the Lobo community.

I am also a non-traditional student. After a previous attempt at college, I gained experience in education, youth mental health, and culinary arts. When the pandemic hit, I saw an opportunity to return and complete my business degree. I bring this diverse background into my advising, eager to support each student in charting their unique path forward.
